About Us

Our Hattiesburg Play It Again Sports is proud to be family owned and operated. From the very beginning, we set out to fulfill an obvious need in the Pinebelt Area: to offer quality new and used sporting goods along with an excellent customer experience.

Owners, John and Connie Townsend are from Brandon, MS, approximately 1-hour north of Hattiesburg. Nearing retirement, they wished to provide a family-owned business for their two children, Leslie Shows and Jason Townsend. The idea of a Play It Again Sports franchise came from their son, Jason, whom previously worked at the Play It Again Sports in Jackson MS.

Jason is married to Katie Townsend, Communications Director for the Area Development Partnership. Leslie works full-time at a local hospital and is married to Jr. Shows. Jason and Jr. manage the store on a daily basis. Both couples live in Hattiesburg.

We are community supporters and look forward to providing many years of quality service to Hattiesburg and the surrounding area.
